Poker Isn’t All about the Money

Clearly, at the base line of any transaction involving poker where cash and chips are concerned, everyone wants to do well because there is money involved. Outside of the world of competing for free and fun, most people would likely say they sit down at the poker table because they would like to win, and to win cash. The point is so obvious that it’s almost moot.

At the end of the day, though, there is more to playing poker online than just the money, in a variety of ways. Anyone who has won a World Series of Poker bracelet, or any other major title on the poker circuit, would likely tell you that, yeah, the money was great, but also defeating a field of players all gunning for that top prize was just as thrilling, if not more so. The esteem and prowess that come from using your brains and experience to be the last man standing are a reward in and of themselves.

Outside of tournament poker, there is also a great feeling of having had a successful poker session, or even just one big winning hand. Knowing you made the right decision, acted on it, and put your cards and abilities to the test can be as valuable at least in part in the long run as whatever money you might take down in the process.
